Making The Transition To Blogger Beta

So yesterday, I got the mass email about Blogger Beta being ready for me to upgrade my blogs....so I thought to myself "Why not?" I've been curious about Blogger Beta for months. So I took the plunge -- and aside from having to reinstall one javascript code, it all worked well. In fact, I really like some of the new features!

It took me hours to apply "labels" to all 284 blog posts from the last (almost) 4 years but it was worth it. You can now view all of the Not In The News Fridays or all the videos or all of the non-dairy recipes, etc. In addition, it's much easier to write and edit blog entries. So, that's the reason for the subtle changes you may have noticed in the site.

Have a great weekend!

Best Wishes,
Allen

I got the notice that it was time to change over my blogs, but they are hosted on our own domain. The change is not as easy, nor is it as useful. You lose a lot of the beta features when you host on your own domain, and you gain some headaches, getting the template to work properly. I'm glad you didn't have any problems.

I've worked through my template problems now, so I'm feeling better about the beta. I can't imagine changing over all those labels at once!! I'm planning on doing mine as a post comes up that has old posts that go with it. You're just more energetic than I am.

When I put the labels on an old post, I'm having to delete the Technorati tags, too, so that adds to the time it takes to do it. It will be a great feature when it's finished, though.

Right now, the only set of labels that are complete are the ones about my stories of growing up in the South during the beginnings of the Civil Rights Movement.
